Following two successful study tours to Brazil and Chile, Intelact International consultants initially undertook feasibility work for a private joint venture of New Zealand farming investors for the development of a Greenfield dairy operation.
After an investigation land was purchased to facilitate a 1000-cow dairy operation which is now fully operational. This farm operates a partial grazing, partial feedlot dairy feeding principal, utilising tropical pastures, arable forage crops and locally sourced by-product feeds.
The tropical pastures are irrigated using centre pivot irrigation which is fed from an on-farm water storage dam. Detailed investigation has resulted in a system that has minimised setup costs, thereby maximising returns to the project investors.
